Ontario Gifts TIFF With $10 Million...

One week before the opening of the2009 Toronto International Film Festival, a dedication ceremony was held in downtown Toronto, at a parking lot on John and King Street West, site of the future home of the 'TIFF Bell Lightbox'.
Ontario Culture Minister Aileen Carroll and Deputy Premier George Smitherman announced a 'gift' of $10 million towards the building's 'capital campaign' as TIFF execs and board members looked on.
The proposed five-storey podium, with cinemas, screening rooms and a restaurant, joined to a new high-rise condo development, owned by the family of "Ghostbusters" director Ivan Reitman, will be finished by September 2010.
The $10 million from Ontario is in addition to the $25 million the province originally pledged towards the $198 million project...
