"Labour Day" 2017
"Labor Day" is a public holiday celebrated on the first Monday in September, dedicated to the labor movement:
Beginning in the late 19th century, as trade union and labor movements grew, unionists proposed a day be set aside to celebrate labor.
'Labor Day' was promoted by the 'Central Labor Union' and the 'Knights of Labor', organizing the first parade in New York City. In 1887, Oregon was the first state in the United States to make the Day an official public holiday.
Canada's 'Labour Day' is also celebrated on the first Monday of September.
More than 80 countries celebrate 'International Workers' day on May 1, or "May Day", originally a Germanic pagan holiday that included dancing around a 'maypole'...
