Toronto Start For New "Carrie"

According to reports, director Kimberly Peirce' upcoming MGM/Screen Gems remake of author Stephen King's supernatural novel "Carrie" will shoot in Toronto, starring actress Chloe Moretz ("Kick-Ass") as 'Carrie White'.

"Never been so happy in my life!", said Moretz. "Thank you Kim Peirce and thank you MGM for the chance of a lifetime I will never forget!"

First published in 1974, "Carrie" follows 'Carrie White', a shy and naive high-school student, who uses newly discovered 'telekinetic' powers to exact revenge on the school bullies who tease her.

Several adaptations of "Carrie" have been released, including a 1976 feature film directed by Brian De Palma, a 1988 Broadway musical, a 1999 feature film sequel and a 2002 television movie.
