IDW Publishing's "Orphan Black"
IDW Publishing's "Orphan Black" #5, available June 2015, is written by John Fawcett, Graeme Manson & Jody Houser, with illustrations by Cat Staggs, adapting the BBC America, Toronto-lensed science fiction 'clone' TV series:
"...'Rachel' is ruthless corporate efficiency personified.
"She's a clone raised self-aware of her genetic identity, occupying an elite position with the 'Dyad' group of companies..."
Created by screenwriter Graeme Manson and director John Fawcett, "Orphan Black", the TV series stars actress Tatiana Maslany as several identical people who are revealed to be clones focusing on 'Sarah Manning', a woman who assumes the identity of one of her clones, 'Elizabeth Childs', after witnessing Childs' suicide.
The series raises issues about the moral and ethical implications of human cloning and its effect on issues of personal identity:
"...in the IDW series, the life of 'Sarah' was changed dramatically after witnessing the suicide of a woman who looked just like her.
"Sarah learned that, not only were she and the woman 'clones', but there were others just like them, and dangerous factions at work set on capturing them all.
"Now, the mysterious world of 'Orphan Black' widens, with new layers of the conspiracy being peeled back..."
