UK's "Empire" Supports Toronto's "Scott Pilgrim"

Sneak Peek the latest cover of "Empire" Magazine, featuring actor Michael Cera, supporting the Toronto-lensed Universal monsters feature, "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World", based on the Oni Press comic book series by Bryan Lee O’Malley.

"...Get The Hot Girl. Defeat her Evil Exes. Hit Love Where It Hurts"

"...Meet charming and jobless 'Scott Pilgrim' (Michael Cera). A bass guitarist for totally average garage band 'Sex Bob-omb', the 22-year-old has just met the girl of his dreams…literally. The only catch to winning 'Ramona Flowers' (Mary Elizabeth Winstead)? Her seven evil exes are coming to kill him.

"Scott has never had a problem getting a girlfriend. It’s getting rid of them that proves difficult. From the girl who kicked his heart’s ass—and now is back in town—to the teenage distraction he’s trying to shake when Ramona rollerblades into his world, love hasn’t been easy.

"He soon discovers, however, his new crush has the most unusual baggage of all: a nefarious league of exes control her love life and will do whatever it takes to eliminate him as a suitor. As Scott gets closer to Ramona, he must face an increasingly vicious rogues’ gallery from her past—from infamous skateboarders to vegan rock stars and fearsome identical twins. And if he hopes to win his true love, he must vanquish them all before it really is game over..."

"Scott Pilgrim" is directed by Edgar Wright, written by Wright with Michael Bacall.

Canwest Newspapers Fold Into Postmedia Network

According to reports, the company headed by Canada's National Post chief executive Paul Godfrey that is buying Canwest newspapers, including The National Post, will now be called Postmedia Network Inc. Other papers in the chain include the Vancouver Sun, Calgary Herald and Ottawa Citizen.

"Postmedia Network reflects both where we have been and where we are going," Godfrey said.

"From the earliest days of information delivery via post, to the current online world of posting news and information as it happens and looking ahead to the continuous evolution of a post-media universe, our new name reflects both the strong legacy and the exciting future of media as we prepare to emerge as a new Canadian business."

June 2010, an Ontario Superior Court judge allowed Canwest Global Communications Corp. to sell its newspaper division to a group of creditors led by Godfrey, for $1.1 billion, including $950 million in cash.
